Job Title: Group Head of Human Resources

Department: Human Resources

Duty Station: Rwanda, with the option to travel within assigned locations

Reports To: CEO

Position Type: Full-time

  1. Management team
  2. Jibuco team

External Interfaces:

  1. Jibu franchisees
  2. Key stakeholders

Job Purpose

As Group Head of Human Resources, you will lead Jibu's HR function across all operational countries. You achieve the company's operating goals via management of employee productivity and wellbeing. This role combines strategic leadership with hands-on execution, overseeing talent acquisition, performance management, compliance, organizational culture, and people development. You will be key to aligning HR practices with Jibu's entrepreneurial and impact-driven mission, ensuring scalable processes, and cultivating a thriving team culture.

Duties & Responsibilities

Strategic HR Leadership

  1. Design and implement HR strategies aligned with business goals across multiple markets
  2. Serve as a trusted advisor to country leadership and the Executive team on all people-related matters
  3. Lead organizational planning around workforce structure, succession planning, and culture development

Talent Acquisition & Onboarding

  1. Oversee full-cycle recruitment for key positions, ensuring a diverse and high-performing talent pipeline
  2. Build and improve onboarding processes to foster early engagement and alignment with Jibu values

Performance Management & People Development

  1. Lead the design and execution of performance review frameworks
  2. Identify training needs and coordinate individual and team development plans
  3. Champion leadership development and internal career growth

Compliance & HR Operations

  1. Ensure labor law compliance and standardization of employment contracts, handbooks, and policies across markets
  2. Maintain HR records, legal documentation, and reporting processes for audit readiness
  3. Oversee compensation, benefits, and leave administration aligned with internal policy and budget

Culture & Employee Engagement

  1. Cultivate a strong Jibu culture of ownership, impact, and performance
  2. Drive employee engagement initiatives, team-building events, and feedback mechanisms
  3. Handle sensitive HR issues with integrity and professionalism

Cross-functional Collaboration & Special Projects

  1. Work closely with finance, legal, operations, and country teams to ensure cohesive execution of HR initiatives
  2. Lead or contribute to strategic cross-country projects, including franchise support, impact programs, and internal systems development

Supervision & Management

Supervision Received: This position works highly autonomously and reports directly to the CEO

Management Responsibility: Oversee the country Human Resource Coordinators

Experience Requirements

Minimum Experience Requirements:

  1. Proven management experience in HR
  2. Working understanding of human resource principles, practices and procedures
  3. Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment

Preferred Experience Requirements:

  1. Excellent interpersonal skills
  2. Excellent organizational and administrative skills
  3. Ability to work under minimum supervision

Required Skills

  1. A self-starter and initiator with an intrinsic motivation to perform

  3. Strong entrepreneurial and business instincts
  4. Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite including Excel, Word and Powerpoint
